What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is not for everyone, it varies from other therapy as it combines the ‘talking therapies’ and the ‘doing therapies’, and as with any therapy it does require commitment.
How does it work?
CBT works on the value that how you think, and then in turn, feel, affects the way you behave. CBT helps address negative thinking patterns, helps people question their core beliefs, puts thoughts and ideas into perspective, find alternative ways to see situations and appreciate life more by working on gratitude and self esteem.
CBT can aid towards a balanced life and a calmer mind.
CBT & Mindfulness
I always talk about, and encourage the practise of Mindfulness with my clients, as this also quietens the mind. so clients are able to think clearer and objectively.
CBT requires the completion of homework in-between sessions, as changing the way you think can be an ongoing process that requires practise after you’ve completed your therapy. The therapist wants to ensure you have been given the right tools to continue with, to stop you slipping back into old habits.
